(UPDATED)
In other news: George Bush calls “my bad” on Iraq.
Frank Isola reports Jim Dolan has reservations about Iverson’s character and could block the signing:

I also read that it was D’Antoni that pressured Walsh on Iverson, and Walsh conceded. Gotta find where I read that. Reminiscent of D’Antoni allegedly pushing for the Shaq trade?
UPDATE: Alan Hahn and Howard Beck twittering that AI to NY is DEAD (10:10am). Is Jim Dolan my new hero? Does he grant himself Yes! and the Foul immunity for a least a little while?!

On the character issue, I’ve actually heard that AI has gotten somewhat of a bad rap. On Bill Simmons’ podcast, he mentioned once that one of the ESPN 30 for 30 docs is on AI, and it would change the view on him. I think that’s what he said – am I making this all up?

AI might not be a ‘bad guy’. But, I can’t imagine anyone enjoys playing with him. I just think about how much Denver improved with him gone.

Iverson never made sense to me. Even if he played well, it just meant less development time for Toney Douglas, Nate, and probably even Gallinari, Chandler, et al. Iverson would have been an Isiah-type move, like adding Steve Francis. It would have been interesting, but not too productive.
Kudos to Donnie for putting the kibosh on it (like 28 other teams).

Big Mikey Francesa said this decision had nothing to do with Dolan. He is furious with miikablogger and the rest of the folks from YATF.
