The lockout/CBA is fast becoming THE issue for NBA fans everywhere. It's funny how we've spent all of this time figuring out the current CBA, and now it could be completely different!

The owners are asking for a lot, but the truth is that half of them are losing tons of money and they aren't posturing. I think a lockout is totally coming, as the players aren't going to take this stuff easily. One owner said: "Our players don't save money." The owners think that they can get it all and are going to bargain hard.

On the flip side, doesn't this make salaries LESS important for the A-list stars? I mean, if you go from making $20 million in salary to $12 million in salary, endorsement income becomes much more important. Let's say that Lebron's Nike contract actually pays him $10 million more to go to NYC or another big market. That money could be much more meaningful if the home-team advantage is less in absolute dollar terms (even if the percentage is still significant).

A hard cap would severely limit the ability of the Knicks to spend a s*&tload to compete. I'd like to see the new CBA do away with a lot of stuff (including 6-year guaranteed contracts!), but it's not going to be good for the Knicks' situation as a team.
